About this tool
About
This free QR code generator creates scannable QR codes from any text or URL in your browser. Customize colors, use a transparent background, and download PNG or SVG—no signup and nothing uploaded.
How it works
Type or paste content. The tool encodes it locally with your chosen error-correction level, foreground and background colors, and size. The live preview updates as you edit. Download a raster PNG for sharing or a vector SVG for print and design tools.
Steps
- Enter a URL or any text (or load the sample).
- Pick error correction (L–H) and PNG size.
- Set foreground and background colors, or turn on a transparent background.
- Check the live preview.
- Download PNG or SVG, or copy the SVG markup.
Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator free?
Yes. It is free to use with no signup. Generate and download as often as you need.
Is my text or URL uploaded?
No. Encoding runs entirely in your browser. Your content is not sent to Utility Tools servers.
PNG vs SVG?
PNG is a fixed-size image for messages and social posts. SVG is vector and stays sharp at any scale—better for print and design apps.
What does error correction mean?
Higher levels (Q, H) can still scan if the code is partially damaged or covered, but they hold less data. Use L or M for long URLs when you need more capacity.
Can I make a transparent QR code?
Yes. Turn on Transparent background so the PNG and SVG omit a solid fill. Use the checkerboard preview to judge contrast before you download.
Why won’t my QR generate?
Empty content cannot encode. Very long text may exceed capacity for the selected error-correction level—shorten the text or choose a lower level.
